Also part of the cast of Blue Bloods is Frank’s father Henry, portrayed by Len Cariou and Frank’s love interest Kelly, portrayed by Andrea Roth. Amy Carlson also stars as Lind, the wife of Danny and Dylan Moore as Jamie’s fiancé named Sydney.

Blue Bloods 2.22 “Mother’s Day” Review

It’s the season’s finale and this episode titled ‘Mother’s Day’ was a thriller of a show that placed Frank in the middle of a tight situation. He was being pulled to protect his family, calm the Mayor who was getting beside himself with the situation at hand and of course stop a terror attack.

It was the threat of a bio-terror attack that triggered everything. How did he handle that of the family? It was simply hard to believe that he did not tell Erin, Linda and Nicky not to take the subway when Erin called. That action alone would raise some debate about one’s job and sense of duty. Would it be fair if he had warned them off while millions more went on the subway? The moral right answer would be no but who in such a position of responsibility and privilege won’t do that very thing?

It is just interesting that in almost every film or show where terror attacks have been played out, every key player in that movie or show in that same position did not even hesitate. In fact, they were the ones that actively dialed and told their family members to take cover while the rest of the city was left without warning. So it is good they took this part for a change.

One thing with a terror attack is that there is always no shortage of ideas. A backpack sprayer spraying something so deadly is so chillingly simple that it is scary how some of the most dastardly deeds can be pulled off without much elaborate plan.

The tension throughout was palpable but no one outside the circle knew what was going on. Frank made the right call not to tell let the public know at such a short notice because it would have caused public hysteria and the attackers would simply disappear to surface later.

The situation did not stop sibling squabbles as Danny and Jamie were at each other over who was a real cop. The second case had to do with a kidnap that lasted two years! There was a sense that there was more juice to get out of the story but the writers were not interested in squeezing it. There was a degree of disconnection between the viewer and the story because they were not really sucked into it.

But the season 2 finale ended at the dinner table and rightly so. And since it was mother’s day, it was a bit subdued as the prayer sobered it up. But the season was solid and fans would be looking forward to a season 3 premiere that might be quite explosive given the way this one ended.
